   CCTV Systems  SDL Security Limited

There are are vast array of CCTV systems on the market from the cheapest DIY systems to quality professional systems. As you would expect you get what you pay for, at the lower end you will get poor quality, higher faulty liability, and possibly higher ongoing costs.

SDL Security Limited install a range of reasonable value medium and high quality CCTV systems. As with computers the quality of the information you put in sets the maximum quality of the information that you get out, for this reason the choice of camera on a CCTV system is essential.

Cameras

There are many considerations to consider when selecting a camera and its associated lens. The first consideration is to decide what images you wish the camera to capture, Identification of someone previously unknown, Recognition of someone known, Detection of an event, or Monitoring of a scene. Making the right choice above based on the customer requirements has an effect on whether the images from that camera are useable in court or not. There are other important technical issues that also have to be taken into consideration to ensure that the customers requirements are met, please call for further detail.

The traditional looks to internal and external cameras are of course still available, however the technology inside the cameras have come on leaps and bounds. It is becoming increasingly rare to install a monochrome camera either internally or externally as day/night, also known as colour mono, cameras are now being installed.

Quality does not have to come at a high price. The camera shown to the left is a vandal resistant camera with mechanical IR filter that uses a super high resolution Sony sensing chip for true colour daylight images. When light levels reduce the image switches to monochrome and the 18 inbuilt IR LED's switch on to illuminate what might be a pitch black scene for up to 15 meters. There are a number of cameras on the market that boast similar capabilities however when installed fall far short in terms of performance.

Pan tilt and zoom day/night dome cameras are installed where a number of locations need to be covered from a single camera. This type of camera can be set on a predetermined tour in order to capture specific images across a site. Whilst this has a benefit of capturing high quality images from a number locations either zoomed in or out, the downside is that whilst the camera is capturing one image all of the other locations on the tour are not being captured.

To overcome this detectors can be installed to pan, tilt, and zoom the camera to a particular event as it occurs. When the cameras become responsive to the events on a site the overall system becomes extremely powerful, and lends itself well to be connected to a remote CCTV monitoring station.

CCTV signs and information about the Data Protection Act is also available.
