August 2007

(30/8/07) Ray Cornibert, Peter Green, Gary Noonan and one other competed for the title of the Middlesex Grand Prix - that's all I know at the moment. If someone has more info either please email me or write something on the forum.

(28/8/07) A little while ago I asked you what the difference was between a Man of Kent and a Kentish Man. Well, it's quite straightforward, a Man of Kent comes from the area to the east of the River Medway and a Kentish Man comes from the west of the river, for more information follow the link.

The London Darts School has already had success with Jamie Winder playing in his first tournament getting to the final of the Andover Youth Open!

(27/8/07) The county season is less than a week away, anyone wishing to update their player profile for this site should email me. Anyone wishing to change their walk on music should bring a CD to give to Terry Andrews at the Kent match.

Jason Clark makes it to the third round of the Peachtree Open in Atlanta only to meet Roland Scholten again, this time losing 3-2. Roland went on to beat Andy Jenkins 3-1 before falling to 'The Heat' that is Denis Ovens in the quarterfinal. James Wade continued his great form and made it to the final only to be beaten by Wayne Mardle 3-2.

(26/8/07) The Super Summer Singles is reaching its climax with just two weeks to go, Middlesex's Hoocheye remains to of the table.

(26/8/07) I must admit that I had some concerns about the organisation of the London Darts Masters, and although the number of players was lower than hoped for, the tournament was run like a dream!

Andy Holland achieved what some of the professional darts organisations can only do, managing to attract top sponsors and get them to part with much needed cash into the game of darts. Gary Cooke was a revelation, he maintained a cool professional manner throughout the day and took the competition from start to end in what seemed like an effortless manner. I am sure that everyone in Middlesex CDO would be happy if Andy managed to find a sponsor for a future Middlesex Open. Gary Cooke I hope will try and take on a more active role at county level - well done to you both.

Two PDC players competed in the final, however George McKie and Jim Byrne deserve a little credit reaching the semi finals of The London Darts Masters. Peter Barnes hit the highest finish of the tournament with 158.

Barry and Steve will have to start do his breathing exercises now because they now have another long name to call out as they introduces Deniece Leeeeeeeeeeeewiiiiiiiiiiis! Congratulations to Gary and Denise, not just for getting married, more importantly they have decided to postpone their honeymoon until after the away game against Kent. Deneice you have the respect of all of the gentlemen dart players, and you will have the scorn of all dart players wives!

Alton Towers... you've got to go........ well I had to bloody go! That counts as my holiday this year and although it was well overdue and very much needed it was very expensive costing me a minimum £75 on top of the cost of the trip. For more info on final 16 who will play for the top prize of £550 in the Grand Prix, have you say on who you think will win on the tournament, and your say on the tournament points structure, visit Talking Tungsten on DartsHome forum.

(20/8/07) Father Teds represented the Mens Superleague in the Champion of Champions Cup and lost in the first round - no shame in that.

The Ladies Superleague Champions Harrow Borough Football Club did win through last weekend, and this weekend reached the semi final place losing only to the eventual champions from Yorkshire.

In the World Masters Ian Long did not have the best of luck as there was none left after Shiny Shoes used it all up in the preliminary round. Shiny, missing darts to win 2 sets to 0, went 1-1 in the last set and therefore it should have been up for the bull to see who throws first in the last leg. In the heat of battle this was overlooked and his opponent threw first and although reaching the double last had dart(s) at a double to win the match.

If you thought that was lucky the next round was close on comical as both players lost the plot big time only for the Middlesex player to nick the game. A double brandy and a pint in two minutes was the order of the day, followed by a quick fire game left me feeling relieved that at least I competed well in what was to be my final game of the day. With even more luck I might have nicked that one too, and you never know in the final as the chap who beat me went on to qualify.

Enough about luck, more about quality! Deniece Burton has topped an excellent season last year in the superleague and the county by qualifying through to the next stages of the Ladies World Master, I managed to see a little of one of her games and what I saw was excellent darts! I just hope that Deniece Lewis will be as good as Deniece Burton, maybe even better?

The John Courage Darts League has reached its half way point - here are the JCDL  league tables.

(16/8/07) The results from the Super Summer Singles and the Grand Prix are on the other site, Ray Cornibert was in a jolly mood last night as he beat Adam Simpson in the final of the GP, maybe he noticed how much the prize money has gone up?

(14/8/07 p.m.) We have the new forums up and running for the County matters, Mens superleague matters, and Ladies superleague matters. Who will be the first to post! If you want other sections please let me know and it will be sorted.

Here are the coach times for the Kent game, please let Mel know where you will be meeting it,  Hatton Cross at 8.30am, Northolt 8.45am, Staples Corner  9.00am.- Thanks. Maggie.

Kevin Lynch's 9 dart game was 180, 177, then he hit a 60 but could not see the rest of the sixty well, so he went 48, D18! You can't get much better than that.

(14/8/07) In response to two recent e-mailers, no I have not received updates on the Grand Prix, but as soon as I get it I will post all news. Whilst I am as keen as everyone else who reads this page to update you ASAP his is dependant on info being supplied, and it should be remembered that Kevin Blair and other contributors have to earn a living before running darts competitions etc.

Kevin Lynch was the 9 dart man, I hope to have more detail shortly.

A blistering return to form from Peter Evison was not enough to topple Jimmy Man in the Super Summer Singles, and Hoocheye hobbles on with his 100% record - report to follow on DartsHome.com.

(13/8/07) The Middlesex County Ladies are champions! Old news I know, but can the Middlesex Superleague Ladies Champions win the Champion of Champions Championship? The answer is maybe as this weekend they qualified through the regional heats and will compete in the finals next week, further details to follow.

(12/8/07) Our first opponents of the campaign are Kent. You all new that, but have you seen the Kent website yet? Incidentally do you know what defines a 'Kentish Man' from a 'Man of Kent'? I will let the rest of you know when someone tells me.

(11/8/07) I have heard that a 9 darter has been hit by one of our superleague players, the info is a little sketchy so it would be good to hear from someone with the full details.

On that note please send in reports about achievements by our superleague/county players made in the close season, at best I get to hear about the Grand Prix and the Super Summer Singles and that is because I play in them both! Also remember that  Dave Bateman has his own county section on another web site, as will the ladies and mens superleague committee, and indeed each team that plays in it. There are no excuses for not letting the whole world know what you and your team are doing!

Early next week (all being well, and fingers crossed) we will have our own Forum provided by the other site allowing Talking Tungsten to close fully - thanks should be passed on to Jason Clark for providing Talking Tungsten, and also for the assisting with the new site.

(9/8/07 p.m.) The team selection for the match against Kent has been announced, follow the link for the details, or visit the Players page (this way is quicker).

(9/8/07) By now you will be noticing that more and more information will be provided through DartsHome.com. By now I hope you have set up your DartsHome.com Homepage with Middlesex County as the first paragraph. Once I have been given the fixtures for the men's and ladies superleague you can select your superleague team as the second paragraph, and the final paragraph can be anything you want including your local team if that league has registered.

I am bringing this to your attention now as Dave Bateman has written the first report that you can find on the Middlesex County paragraph on DartsHome.com. If you want to register your league on DartsHome.com then watch this short film, and use the help on the site.

(7/8/07) The results and table have been updated on DartsHome.com for the Super Summer Singles. Vegas Vern gets beaten by Nigel Justice whilst Shiny Shoes makes up 4 points on the top 5, although loses 2 points (along with others) as Steve McHale drops out. Its very tight in the middle of the table with 4 players vying for the last £100 on offer.

(6/8/07) The Ladies Superleague AGM will be held next Monday the 13th at 8.15 at Heriots, everyone of the female gender should do their best to attend, and any new teams or players that wish to participate should contact Jo via email as soon as possible.

All you lovely ladies can have your own team web page on DartsHome.com, once the Ladies Superleague has registered each team can have their own representative to update their own team pages.

(3/8/07) The results of the Grand Prix are the DartsHome pages including the table.

A little bird has told me that the county selection meeting is about to take place so watch this space. On current form I am hoping that the BDO have introduced a 'C' team.

I don't think it is too late for entering a Ladies Team into the Superleague, if this is of interest to you contact Maggie or Fifi .

If you have not collected your county shirt and want it before the season starts please contact Ian Long. Also anyone who is receiving sponsorship money should complete the sponsorship form and send it to Ian. From what I understand Mark Haggerty, Terry Andrews, Chris Hill, Graham Inniss, Gary Lewis, and Denise Burton all have sponsors and have supplied the paperwork or are in the process of it, and there may be others too. If you haven't got a sponsor yet, download the document and give a copy to you guvnor at work and see where it takes you.
