February 2007

(26/2/07) Longman buries the Undertaker in the final of the Finchley Open, more details to follow when I receive them.

The Mens Superleague tables and results and individual averages are in thanks to Johnny Scott.

Scottie too Hottie was also a Mens Superleague Singles winner through to the last 16...... that's half the names, 8 more to go.

(23/2/07) Fatal also got through, does anyone else know who else got through in the singles?

This picture should really be a caption competition. In my offering Mark is saying 'Where's Steve Hyatt gone'. Go to Middlesex on Talking Tungsten to post your entry.

(22/2/07) The Baldyman, Churchill, Bungle, Longman, and Shiny Shoes got through to the last 16 of the Mens Superleague singles last night, as did 11 others whose names will follow.

Don't forget the Finchley Open on Sunday, it would be good if someone lets me know the result and anything else of interest, a mobile phone picture of the winner would be good.

(20/2/07) The Ladies Superleague results and tables have been updated today, Harrow Borough top the table and Pauline Dyer tops the averages.

(18/2/07) The promotion table sees Middlesex drop one place, if this sounds like deja vu its because I told you last week, but I forgot to give you the promotion table. (17/2/07) Those of you who travelled away to Lincolnshire will remember Harvey Phillips, here is a letter from his mum addressed to Fifi.

"I would like to say thank you to you and all of your fellow dart players for an amazing contribution to the money being raised for Harvey. It was nice to meet you all and get a chance to chat to a few of you; you were such nice, kind, caring bunch of people . All monies raised for Harvey goes into a trust fund to make his life better now, and also in the future as there will come a time when we will have to start paying for Harvey's limbs and each pair costs up to £20,000 and at one time he may need up to 3 pairs (swimming/sports/everyday use). So you can understand why we are so grateful for every penny raised for him.

As you saw for yourselves he is a very happy playful little boy and doesn't let his disabilities get in his way. Since we met you Harvey has learned to walk unaided with his false limbs on. We as parents are so proud of him and what he has achieved, and I think a lot of what he can do is down to his older sister Kayleigh who loves him very much.

Once again thank you so much, your kindness will not be forgotten - Love Lisa Phillips x"

(16/2/07) Change for change sake, or for the good of the players and their counties? There is a debate at the moment within the BDO with regards to the county format. The BDO have a thread on the BDO forum, and we have one on Talking Tungsten - Have your say.

(15/2/07) The squad for the Surrey game has been announced, in précis John Maudsley has been promoted to the mens A, with Scott Robertson retuning to the B. Also returning to the B is 'lucky Mick Seagar' and what I think is a first cap for Joe Stone. There are no changes to the on form ladies squad.

(13/2/07) Fifi has kindly reminded me on three occasions that I have not updated the Results page. On the third occasion she got the scores right! I am very happy to receive corrections or omissions and comments in general, one of which was received from a lady called Sheila who kept up to date with the match over the weekend from Wales - thanks for your kind comments Sheila, its nice to know that the service is being used 'worldwide'.

The more I become involved with Middlesex the more I realise how much work is needed to put on a county match (though I should know my dad and my late father-in-law were officials for donkeys years). There are so many people that I could mention as being praise worthy, but last weekend Terry Hennessey stood in at the last minute on Sunday to help out with the music when help was much needed and to the relief of Terry Andrews who was shortly to play for the A. All being well Terry 'H' enjoyed himself and will be available for the last game of the season.

(12/2/07 p.m.) The Mens Superleague table and results, and the averages are in for week 15. It remains tight at the top with Father Ted's A with a slender 2 point lead.

The stats page for the game against Gwent has been updated using the BDO software, the presentation is excellent and we have the benefit of a summary sheet that we did not have before.

A word of thanks to Sharon Sadler for providing a laptop for the counties use. I don't know how she got it and I'm not going to ask, but I do know that it was supplied by The PC Place in Barnet, click the link to visit their web site. As with all our sponsors I would encourage to you to support those who sponsor us, call The PC Place on 020 8447 5700 for pc purchases, repairs to your computers,  network setup, or go to the shop 198 High Street to use their Internet Cafe.

(12/2/07 a.m.) Lots and  lots of info from the weekend, I will update the info on an daily basis over this week. The important news is that Middlesex drew against Gwent 18-18. With Buckinghamshire beating Lincolnshire by 6 we drop to third place by 1 point, with and Dorset are homing in on us 8 points behind. I know that it is not all my fault, but if I could have got my doubles over the last two months we would still be in second place - anyway the good news is I have had a chat with Karen Daly regarding the photos (fingers crossed chaps!)

(9/2/07) The Finchley Open is featured on the on Competition Page

This weekend sees Middlesex play at home to Gwent at the Tithe Farm Social Club, support is welcomed but for those who can not make it and wishing to stay up to date with the game visit the Middlesex Live Update Service on the Web and via Wap.

(8/7/07) Mervyn Kings bogged off then, details on the BBC site.

(7/2/07) I have been asked to make it known that in what might just be a glorious year for Middlesex ( we can still screw it up though so don't count your chickens just yet) it is perhaps surprising that we do not have a Manager, Assistant Manager, nor a Minutes Secretary. If you are interested in helping out with either of these posts then please contact Dave Bateman directly, or drop me a line and I will pass it on.

(6/2/07) Martyn Miles undoubtedly is one of the greatest floor players that Middlesex has being number 8 in the superleague averages at the moment, however get him up 3 feet up on a stage its a different ball game. Some people have suggested that he has stage fright, but I think otherwise. It seems obvious to me that Martyn is afraid of heights and so I suggest, as with all fears, the best way to overcome his fear is to confront it directly. With this in mind he should be interested in the next feature.

Mel Robertson and Sandy Howe have decided that they would like to raise money for charity. Mel is raising money for Harvey Phillips (the little chap at the Lincolnshire game) and Sandy is raising money for the Middlesex Youth Team - both admirable and worthy causes that I know will be well supported. From what I understand others may be joining this brave pair on a parachute jump on Saturday 26th of May, ....... so what do you say Martyn? If you cope with a 12,00ft parachute jump the stage will be a synch!

Late News, Dave Bateman is now also jumping, his chosen charity is Marie Curie, and Hayleigh Shaw is also jumping for the Middlesex Youth.... anyone else?

(4/2/07) The mens superleague league table and averages have been updated. Father Ted's A remain top the table as Peter Green tops the averages with 12 from 12.

(3/2/07) Congratulations to Karen Daley for topping the BDO BICC Ladies B averages winning 5 out of 5! I haven't got a picture of her with all of her clothes on, so here is a picture of her sister Anita.

For the chaps out there who want to have a peep at photos of Karen partially or completely naked, I am sorry to say that I do not have any of that type either I am afraid.

The news of Karen's great achievement was unearthed by Jo Candler - thanks Jo. My request for columns written by the superleague committee representatives have partially been answered as Jo is to write the Ladies Superleague column, again thanks Jo.

* Dave has also asked for volunteers to put up the stage for all county games.  If you have done this before you are well placed to help, if you have not then maybe now is the time to consider it.
