March 2008

(31/3/08) Sometimes it is difficult to get a headline, especially with the results going against us as they have this year, however thanks to an eventful weekend the headline could have been,  "You can't heat up a pizza in a trouser press", or "He should have gone to Specsavers", or "Does my bum look big in this thong", or "I love burying me head in other girls boobs", or "You are only meant to blow the bloody doors off (not the bottle)", but the headline really has to be "There's only one Terry Andrews!" Pictures and stories to follow....

Hampshire have made a suggestion regarding the county format, as soon as I have a copy I will post it here for discussion. With this in mind maybe we should be reflecting on our own superleague structure. Having heard the odd comment about the Ladies getting home late on superleague nights from more than one source, maybe the format of the ladies superleague should be discussed, follow the link to DartsHome.com.

(19/3/08) Here is a link to our next opponents (Lancashire), who do no doubt will get a thorough thrashing.

(14/3/08) Ian Long is on a hat-trick having won the Winmau and the Gold Cup Singles for Middlesex so far, is no doubt confident about winning the Gold Cup Pairs having been an outright winner of the event with Alan Taylor many moons ago.

For those who are unaware Ian, yes he is the one on the left of the picture, is resting from county darts until the end of the season, and on his current form will be sorely missed.

Tina Neylon was the winner of the Ladies Gold Cup, beating Deniece Lewis in the final last Monday.

Maggie Sutton also has a pair..... (I am sure the gentlemen amongst us have noticed), and although a pair has a similar meaning to double (I will explain doubles another time Maggie), they are not to be confused. Maggie has won for the second year (hence pair) the Berkshire Ladies Singles - well done Mags!

(12/3/08) Its the men's Gold Cup Singles tonight at the Tithe Farm.

Dave has provided the report for the county game against Cabridgeshire, it is now on DartsHome.

Player Pledge.JPG (172816 bytes)(9/3/08) In order to put a lid on the players pledge I have written what I would like it to be, select the image to the left. It need not be a document to be signed, but I think that it should be a document that is read by all prospective players for our next campaign if it is adopted at the next AGM.

Yesterday I popped down to the London Darts School to see how things are progressing. Still there are large numbers of students and teachers willing to give up their free time, and the standard of the students darts continues to improve. It would be unfair to pick out names, but there are two or three that will be playing superleague within a year or so I am sure.

(8/3/08) The selection is in for the next away game against Lancashire on 29th/30th of March. The coach is leaving on Friday night and Mel Robertson needs to you to book your places immediately so that the rooms can be booked.

Micky Seagar is promoted to the A Team for the men and Roy Peacock drops to the B Team. Phil Robertson returns to the bench, and Nick Patel is selected as a reserve for the first time.

Ladies A Team stalwart Maggie Sutton steps down from the A to the B Team to make way for Coreen Loffler. Returning to the Ladies B is Anita Daly.

(6/3/08) The match report from the game against Cheshire is on DartsHome.com.

(5/3/08) Two game to go and Middlesex are still looking for their first victory in the premiership! The individual player stats from the game against Cambridgeshire have now been posted.

I started a new topic on DartsHome, it may be considered a waste of time by some, perhaps controversial by others, and sensible by only one! What do you think about player contracts / pledges?, and what would you think sensible to add to it?
