September 2007

(30/9/07 p.m.) Round one 5-4, round two, 5-2, round three 5-0, round four 5-1, round five 5-3, round six 5-2, round seven (or put another way the game to qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts) 2-5 versus Kevin McDine. Highly pi**ed off was I to find out - how do you think Clarky feels?

(30/9/07) Not exactly breaking news as it is week old now. Gary Anderson won the British Open with Alan Taylor progressing through 2 rounds 3-1 before getting beaten 3-1 himself. Maggie Sutton also won her first round game before being defeated 3-1 in the second round. I received this info on Wednesday, however not only have I slept between then and now, I also had alcoholic refreshment. If you have any news regarding local, superleague, county, or other dart related news email me please.

(29/9/07 p.m.) The game against Cornwall, or should I say Kernow may well be cancelled for next month. Firstly some of the inhabitants do not consider themselves English so how can they be considered part of the British Darts Organisation? Secondly they do not consider that they live in a county, so how can they play in the BICC? Here is an extract from a document that I found on the web - Click on the flag to find out more "A great many arguments and counter-arguments have raged regarding the true status of Cornwall. A status that is certainly unique within Great Britain. Why is it unique?"

(29/9/07) Info about Cornwall coming soon. However good news for the Youth, last week we published the match report from Jennie Rooney, this week you have your own forum section to discus all matters Youth.

(28/9/07) The lively debate on player eligibility to the men's superleague continues on the forum. I for one think it is healthy to air opinions and views quickly before things fester as the weeks pass - the forum is a good tool for this.

Although there seems to be a leaning towards celebrating Jason's recent success and keeping the status quo it would be good if we had a clear interpretation of he rules by the committee as soon as possible,  certainly before Wednesday of next week.

On a very different note - has anyone got a picture for the October Caption Competition? If so please email me.

(27/9/07 p.m.) Now to the important news, Ian Long was by far the most consistent, high scoring, big finishing dart player that I saw last night, and in my opinion he thoroughly deserved to win the Middlesex Lakeside qualifiers.

Donald "Duck!" Adamson nearly added to Ian's piecing after a one of Ian's darts dropped out,  and as picked his dart up and started to stand upright (directly under the board), the first of Donald's darts whistled by Ian's right ear!

It wasn't "Duck" that was shouted out, but as Ian contemplated his options whilst walking back from the oche, there was the odd comment that rhymed with duck as we were waiting to see what was to happen next!

(27/9/07) The Youth report for the Essex match is on the youth pages, and a very interesting discussion about player eligibility is about to break out in the forum on DartsHome.com mainly due to the rise of a Mr Clark into the top 50 of the world.

(26/9/07) Has Gary Noonan made such a bungle that he has to be compared to Martin Ekis?  You judge for yourself. Its the Men's Lakeside play off tonight at Tithe Farm.

(25/9/07) On Friday the 5th of October, the night before the county game against Cornwall, a knock out singles is being run at Tithe Farm. The stage will be set up on that evening and also the video display system will be partially set up so as to remove a little stress away from Saturday morning.

The lovely lads from DartsHome.com are planning to improve the coverage on the large screen from last year, and have already partially set up an improved the 'walk on' presentation. However at the moment only 1 of the 36 players presentations is fully complete. All players and officials are asked to either turn up on Friday night to have some practice amongst other things, or turn up early on the Saturday or Sunday morning to ensure all goes sweetly.  You can download the 'walkon' presentation document here and bring it with you, this will save time and allow you to gather all the info required.

Calling all Chelsea fans.... calling all Chelsea fans.... follow the link, remember you do have the right to reply (no swear words please). That shirt will come in handy now Mick!

(23/9/07 at 16.50) Clarky beats Wayne Mardle 5-3, but goes out to Peter Manley 5-2 in round 4, while Mark Walsh storms into round 5 with  5-0 victory over Mark Frost, but then loses 5-3 to Denis Ovens.

(23/9/07 p.m.) Today Jason will have to beat Eddie Lovely before he can meet Wayne Mardle in the board final of the BlueSq Welsh Regional Final. If Gary Noonan gets beyond the first round he will have to beat Andy Jenkins, John Scott plays Mark Dudbridge, Alan Caves will have to beat in form Alex Roy to win his board, and Peter Evison will have to beat Rico Vonk to win his board.

In the the Welsh Players championship Clarky loses in the fifth round losing 3-1 to Mervyn King. Earlier notable scalps for Jason was Chris Mason 3-2, and Kevin Painter 3-1.

(23/9/07) Our next opponents Cornwall have a new web site, take a look and you never know we may be able to discover one of their weaknesses and expose it to the full in two weeks. Cornwall defeated a slightly weakened Yorkshire team at the beginning of this month even with seven debutants!

If you predict the man and the lady of the match for both A and B teams when we play Cornwall I will give you a bottle of champagne that I won in the recent open in Finchley with a 160 finish - go to Talking Tungsten.

(20/9/07) The mens superleague is shaping up, John Scott has provided a report from week one and also has the averages and tables on the Mens Superleague page. Week two was played last night, for the latest results go to Talking Tungsten, and for team reports follow this link to DartsHome.com.

(19/9/07) Mark Haggerty has been sponsored for all county games this year by Tempur mattresses. Click here or on the image to see what Tempur can do for you.

This advert will be placed on a new page on this site to show support to the companies that support us. In addition to showing their advert here and on the new page (when I get it done that is), the advert will also appear on the players walk on page as each player goes to the stage. The cost to the sponsor is £150 for the season, or £40 per game. If you do not have a sponsor yet then get a prospective sponsor for you to look and see what we have done for Mark, then contact Dave Bateman with the information.

(16/9/07) The qualifiers for the Ladies Embassy play-offs for this year were Coreen Loffler, Tina Neylon, Pauline Dyer, Maggie Sutton.

(13/9/07) The Royal Oak got off to a flyer last night even though star players Jason Clark and Gary Noonan put in an under par performance. Go to Talking Tungsten on DartsHome.com for the result, and while you are there put your result on, 2 Hotty has responded even before I have finished updating this site, so there are only 5 matches needed for the complete picture.

As the results go up DartsHome.com will be updated, each team can write their own match report. To date we have three of the eight mens superleague teams have signed on to DartsHome, The Royal Oak, Tithe Farm, and Caesars so their reports should be on line shortly. I am hoping that someone from the committee will update/correct the scores and use the league area to update us all on matters relating to the mens superleague. If there is a committee member who wants this role let me know, otherwise I will open it up to anybody else who is interested.

(10/9/07) There is a new competition next weekend for £400 in Finchley - follow the link and keep an eye on Talking Tungsten for other competitions. If you have a competition you can post it there.

(9/9/07) England won all three sports yesterday (Football, Cricket, Rugby), and The Police were excellent in concert! The Score sheets from the match against Kent are now on the Statistics page, this was only possible now that I have resolved my scanner problem - as was the publishing of the picture to the left, can you spot who it is. If you are not sure visit the Forum to see another picture of this colourful character.

(8/9/07) Today is a busy day, I've got to watch the rugby, football, motor racing, and the cricket, then go to see the Police in concert at Twickers later - the Sky Plus will be tested to the max today. On top of that I have to update this site and also DartsHome.com, and practice for the Cornwall game. Talking of darts..... the selection for the Cornwall game has been made, in brief there are no changes to the Ladies A and B, and no changes in the Mens A. Jim Byrne and Gavin Harrison take a rest from the B to make way for Gary Hawkins and Tony Hill. Still on the bench is Ray Cornibert, Martyn Miles and Chris Hill, and new recruit Gary "Bungle" Noonan.

(6/9/07) The Mens Superleague started with the 8's competition last night - someone left their darts at Tithe Farm lat night. They are now with Roger Schena, they have Pampers written on the flights.

(5/9/07) Every team in the Mens Superleague and the Ladies Superleague league now has its own web page with their own teams fixtures. One person from each team can now write Team News and Match Reports, and your teams fixtures and results will also be updated automatically for you.

You will have a link to the Mens Superleague page from where all teams can will be linked to. Have a chat with your team captain and secretary, and if they are not interested you can update your site for your team! Jo Candler is the League Administrator for the ladies, as yet we have no-one from the mens committee to be a league administrator, so I will do that in the interim.

Tonight is the first night of the mens superleague. 'Muddy Trainers' reckons that Father Teds will not be victorious this year - let your opinion be known on Talking Tungsten on DartsHome.com.

Surrey's Jimmy Mann topples Middlesex's Georgie McKie in a tight game in the final match of the Super Summer Singles.

(3/09/07) Our results belied our performances this weekend as our ladies A went down 4-2, and the mens A followed this by losing 8-4. We have now experienced the premiership, it ain't so scary, and if we perform to the same standard again I would imagine that we would win half of our games, and if we hit the doubles..... well who knows. To read Dave Bateman's report now, go to DartsHome.com and select Middlesex county darts as your first paragraph.

(2/9/07) A county match report will be on DartsHome.com shortly provided by Dave Bateman, however the ladies B performed well again drawing 3-3 with their counterparts from Kent, and although the men faired less well losing 8-4, the games were on the whole very good. Being careful not to steal Dave's thunder... but the Chelsea boys played excellent games with their joint average over 30! As a QPR supporter I faired no better than my team losing 3 zip.

Gary Noonan was the winner of the Middlesex Grand Prix beating Peter Stokes in the final.
