Digital Video Recording (DVR)

In the past CCTV images were recorded using a time lapse VCR and multiplexer, however these systems are no longer installed as the DVR out performs the VCR in almost every aspect. As with CCTV cameras there are a vast number of DVR's on the market with a significant difference at each end of the quality spectrum.

We have one customer who had a DVR installed by one of competitors only to find that the quality of the images was poor and the system only recorded for 5 days and not the 31 he specified. Turning to another installer he ended up with an improvement but without reaching his requirements. On both occasions he found that the equipment was manufactured abroad and that neither the installer or the manufacturer were able to provide the level of support required to set up the system up correctly.

The DVR's preferred by SDL Security Limited are purchased directly from the manufacturers in the UK. The DVR range that we purchase is a feature rich, easy to use, and reliable. In addition to that we have excellent technical back up from the manufacturers, who often design in features that our customers request.

Our DVR range starts with a 4 way desk top DVR and extends to a 24 way system. Multiple DVR's can be banked up and viewed on a single monitor controlled by a single keyboard and mouse if required. If the DVR is connected to a LAN the live and recorded images can be viewed from any computer on that network if programmed to do so. If connected to an ADSL line with a fixed IP address the images can be seen on any computer around  the world, again if programmed to do so.

Camera sources can be programmed to use video motion detection and/or time lapse recording at capture the images. Each camera can be programmed individually with regard to image quality and frame rate amongst many other things.  With the benefit of fully programmable inputs and outputs the most basic of our DVR's can even be connected to a CCTV remote monitoring station.
