Monitored Intruder Alarms  SDL Security Limited

Changes to the Association of Chief Police Officers ACPO Policy and the introduction of DD243 have made a significant impact on customers who lose their police response after having too many false alarms. Further regulation changes have caused a significant level of confusion amongst some other installation companies. The primary purpose of the regulation changes are to minimise false alarms passed on to the police.

New installations must be planned within the new tighter regulations, upgrades from 'bells only' or 'audible only' to monitored systems will also have to meet the regulations in respect to all new and existing equipment.

Audible Only systems upgraded nearly always result in the alarm panel being replaced to allow confirmed alarm conditions. Also the entry keypad will have to be upgraded to allow access tokens to set and unset the panel, and additional detectors are required in order to ensure that the second detector activation confirms the first detector activation at the soonest reasonable point. At this point it should be noted that a single alarm condition reported to the monitoring station will result in only the key-holder being informed. Once a second alarm condition is reported can the police be informed. For further advice please contact us.

Digital Communicator (Also see Wireless Alarm Systems)

The most cost effective method of monitoring alarm system is to install a digital communicator that sends signals to our monitoring station. However there are more secure solutions as the telephone line can be cut prior to a break-in resulting in no alarm signals being reported.

Redcare

In order to overcome the problem of a telephone line being attacked we can install a system known as Redcare. The Redcare communicator provides all of the signals provided by the digital communicator with the important benefit of telephone line monitoring. Signals are sent at regular intervals from the Redcare communicator to the monitoring station, therefore if the telephone line is cut and the regular signal interrupted, the monitoring station will be informed of event.

Redcare GSM

The third system that we install is called Redcare GSM, this is in effect a Redcare communicator that also has a GSM communicator similar to a mobile phone. This system is stipulated by some insurers as although the Redcare communicator reports that the telephone line has been cut, no further signals can be sent to the monitoring station. The result of a single alarm  condition received at a monitoring station is to call the keyholders only, therefore the Redcare GSM communicator is required in order to ensure further signals are sent via the GSM module even if the telephone line is cut.
