The Smart Burglar Alarm
It’s important to note that in 2025 BT will switch off the PSTN (copper cables to your house network). They are removing this technology from the UK infrastructure entirely, so any systems that rely on PSTN to operate will no longer report alarm conditions.
This includes technology like CCTV and burglar alarm systems.
This is not a problem for our Smart Security Systems as they all use WiFi. Qolsys also has a mobile phone SIM embedded in the panel to ensure that there are two communication paths to your smartphone, ensuring the Qolsys IQ4 will continue to operate as it does now.

The Qolsys IQ 4 panel is the latest system that uses the rock solid, 'military grade' PowerG technology that allows detectors to be up 4 x further away from the panel. The signalling is 128 bit bank level encrypted, with multi channel frequency hopping, and 2 way communication between the detectors and the panel. Add to that, the detector batteries last up to 8 years or more dependant on usage. The Qolsys IQ 4 has all the credentials of the finest Smart Burglar Alarm System on the market.
